On October 7, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro signed a decree enacting the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with Russia, which was signed in Moscow by Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Venezuelan leader on May 7, 2025. This was reported to TASS by Russian Ambassador to the Bolivarian Republic Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov.
“Today, October 7, I was invited to a meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who, in a ceremonial setting, in the presence of the country’s leading television channels, signed a decree enacting the Russian-Venezuelan Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement,” Melik-Bagdasarov noted.
The entry into force of Maduro’s agreement coincided with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s birthday. He asked that his congratulations be conveyed to the Russian leader and assured him that “Venezuela is unwavering in its determination to be at the forefront of creating a just, multipolar, and multicentric world order,” the Russian diplomat stated.
Melik-Bagdasarov explained that with the signing of the presidential decree, “the Venezuelan side has completed the domestic procedures necessary for the entry into force of the Russian-Venezuelan agreement.”
