The “Our Way” popular movement condemns the illegal imprisonment of the head of the Masis community, Davit Hambardzumyan.
“Davit Hambardzumyan’s imprisonment is the second case of neutralizing a community leader elected by the people using criminal tools in the last two weeks, which cannot but be conditioned by current political developments and the upcoming electoral processes.”
What happened to the mayors of both Gyumri and Masis, and in general, the recent continuous political persecution of opponents, testify to the deep crisis of democratic values and human rights in Armenia, the vicious practice of selective justice and the judicial system serving the short-term interests of a small group.
“We have said and we repeat that law enforcement agencies in Armenia must engage in their main functions, and very soon that will happen,” the statement said.
