Message from David Hambardzumyan from the Nubarashen penitentiary:
“Dear compatriots, dear colleagues!
First of all, I would like to thank the organizers and all participants of the parliamentary hearings on the topic “On the Restoration of the Rights of Political Prisoners in the Republic of Armenia and Their Violated Rights.” This was an important event, which was entirely aimed at identifying the essence of the numerous problems in Armenia. Raising these issues from the parliamentary podium will undoubtedly have a significant impact not only on curbing the authoritarian tendencies of the authorities, but also, more importantly, on demonstrating to the international community the true position of the Armenian people and transforming this position into a significant political factor. And I am very pleased that the first results of the hearings were not long in coming: political prisoner Lidia Mantashyan was released yesterday. This is undoubtedly a victory, and I congratulate all of us on it.
Dear compatriots, I am more than confident that through systematic and focused work, we can achieve much more. Today, we can already state with great joy that the need to address truly important issues can unite the opposition. The events of the last few days of the struggle for the freedom and rights of political prisoners are clear evidence of this. The unified approach formed by the opposition factions around the impeachment agenda is also proof of this. We must continue working in this direction. The rule of Nikol and his group poses a mortal danger to our state and people every day. Therefore, this rule of traitors must be removed as soon as possible.
Today, we have such an opportunity. We must speak out. We must fight for our church, for our state, for our people, for our future.
After once again thanking the organizers and participants of the parliamentary hearings, I would like to convey my warm greetings to everyone and assure them that everything is proceeding along the right and productive path. Let us not deviate from this path and be determined to achieve victory.”
