Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in a telegram that Ukraine must work to minimize unresolved issues, emphasizing that there are “red lines” for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
“Of course, there are red lines for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. There are also compromise proposals. All these issues are extremely sensitive. They concern both territories and the Zaporizhzhia NPP,” Zelenskyy wrote.
According to him, in the event of possible changes in approaches, the Ukrainian authorities will certainly communicate with the people before making any decisions, since it is the people who make the ultimate decisions.
Zelenskyy noted that such decisions could be made either through a referendum or through relevant legislative amendments. The Ukrainian President emphasized that security guarantees are the most important issue. He stated that, along with territorial issues and the Zaporizhzhia NPP, security guarantees are of vital importance to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy noted that Russia demonstrated its attitude toward the peace process by launching massive strikes against Ukraine while peace talks between Ukraine and the United States are underway, aimed at ending the war Russia unleashed against Ukraine. “This is precisely how Russia is reacting to this process on the path to peace talks,” he emphasized.
Zelenskyy noted that it is fundamentally important for Ukraine that any step be accompanied by reliable security guarantees and genuine protection. He also emphasized that holding a referendum or elections is impossible under the current circumstances in Ukraine.
It is worth noting that Trump will meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Florida on Sunday.
