We will make every effort to fully realize the inalienable rights of our people to return to Artsakh and self-determination. This is stated in the statement of the National Assembly of Artsakh.
“Dear compatriots!
Thirty-eight years ago, an extraordinary session of the 20th convocation of the Regional Council of People’s Deputies of the NKAO was held in Stepanakert. Its decisions on the secession of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast from the Azerbaijan SSR and its inclusion in the Armenian SSR became fateful for the next four decades of our people’s life. Over the next three decades, at the cost of the lives of thousands of believers and the heroic struggle of our entire people, we have regained our dignity and identity and come closer to realizing the centuries-old dream of us and our ancestors – complete unity and coexistence with the Motherland and the state.
However, as a result of the adventurous “policy” of the current Armenian authorities, gross violations of the constitutions of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh, as well as fundamental norms of international law, we have not only lost what we acquired at the cost of severe deprivation and innumerable efforts – our homeland. Our homelands, as well as the Armenians of Artsakh, have been subjected to ethnic cleansing and genocide, leading to the complete expulsion of Artsakh.
Today, the enemy has not only occupied our native Artsakh and is passing “sentences” on the captured military-political leadership of Artsakh and other captives based on fabricated charges, but is also destroying the material evidence of our spiritual heritage – holy sites, monasteries, and churches – in an attempt to erase the Armenian identity of Artsakh and earning the appreciation and gratitude of the Armenian authorities.
We, as the elected representatives of the people of the Republic of Artsakh,
send our congratulations to the pioneers of the national liberation struggle of 1988, to all Armenians imbued with this awakening in every corner of the world,
we pay tribute to the families of the thousands of martyrs who gave their lives at every stage of the liberation struggle, and
WE DECLARE
in the memory of our martyrs, the heroic history of Artsakh over millennia, and the realization of the dreams of our ancestors – we will preserve the unshakable unity of the people of Artsakh,
we will preserve our millennial heritage,
we will rely on the determination of our people to return to their native Artsakh,
we will make every effort to fully realize the inalienable rights of our people to return to Artsakh and to fully realize their inalienable rights to self-determination.
