The World Health Organization (WHO) hopes that the agreement on Lebanon will be followed by a peaceful settlement in Gaza and the wider Middle East region. This was stated in the X by WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
“WHO welcomes the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, as the latest escalation in hostilities has been particularly devastating to the health system,” the head of the organization noted. “We hope that it will be implemented immediately and lead to a lasting peace in Lebanon, and will trigger urgent action to bring peace to Gaza and the wider region.”
The civilians in Gaza “are suffering greatly and need a life-saving ceasefire, full humanitarian assistance and peace now, before it is too late,” Ghebreyesus continued. “The best medicine is peace,” he concluded.
