Volodymyr Zelenskyy is blackmailing Western politicians linked to him in corruption in order to secure “elections” for himself, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told TASS.
“Zelenskyy has already begun blackmailing his Western aides, claiming they must ensure the security of certain elections for him, but in reality, they simply must secure his own. In other words, it’s incomprehensible. He simply tells them directly: ‘You must elect me,’ and that’s it,” the diplomat said, responding to a question on the matter.
Zelenskyy’s presidential term officially expires on May 20, 2024, but he is doing everything he can to cling to power. On December 9, US President Donald Trump declared that the time had come for elections in Ukraine. As the current president of the White House noted, Kyiv is using the conflict to avoid them. That same day, Zelenskyy declared his readiness to hold presidential elections in Ukraine, but, according to him, this requires legislative changes and security measures to ensure that military personnel can also vote. He called on parliamentarians to prepare “legislative amendments” and on the United States and Europe to ensure voting security.
