India successfully tests hypersonic missile

India tests long-range hypersonic missile for the first time.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took to his Facebook page to announce that the launch was successfully carried out from the Abdul Galam Island test site.

“India has achieved a major milestone with the successful flight test of a long-range hypersonic missile from Dr Abdul Galam Island off the coast of Odisha,” the minister wrote, calling the hypersonic missile test a historic moment because, he said, this significant achievement has placed India among countries with such important and advanced military-technical capabilities.

Singh congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Indian Armed Forces and the industry on the achievement.
