Paris police have announced that 4,000 police officers and 1,600 stadium workers will be deployed to ensure security at the stadium and on public transport for the France-Israel football match, following attacks by Palestinian supporters on Israeli fans in Amsterdam last week.
The UEFA Nations League match between France and Israel will be held in Paris on November 14, and French President Emmanuel Macron will attend, according to the Elysee Palace.
2,500 police officers will be stationed around the Stade de France stadium in northern Paris, and 1,500 in Paris and on public transport.
The Paris police chief said that French organizers are in contact with Israeli authorities and security forces in preparation for the match.
The Israeli National Security Council, in turn, called on its compatriots to refrain from traveling to Paris for the football match on November 14, as well as to other events in Europe.
On the night of November 8, Israeli fans were attacked in Amsterdam after a Europa League football match in which Amsterdam’s Ajax beat Tel Aviv’s Maccabi 5-0.
According to The Times of Israel, videos had previously appeared on social media showing Israeli fans chanting offensive slogans against Arabs, particularly Palestinians.
Despite a ban on demonstrations, an unauthorized demonstration took place in Amsterdam on November 10, during which about 100 people were arrested.
