The Board of Trustees of Pedagogical University approved former Deputy Minister of Education Araksya Svajyan as acting Rector. According to the Minister of Education, Janna Andreasyan, the experience and work carried out by Araksia Svajyan are important prerequisites for the University's leadership. The position of head of the university became vacant in October 2025, when the former Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan and one of the Vice Rectors were arrested as part of the criminal proceedings carried out by the Anti-Corruption Committee. In August, the former rector challenged the decision of the university's board of trustees to terminate his powers. Prior to Araksya Svajyan's appointment, Lilit Mkrtchyan, Head of the Department of Educational News and Research of the National Center for Education Development and Innovation (NCEED) Foundation, was acting Rector. He was appointed Deputy Chair of the Committee on Higher Education and Science.
