The economic interest of Armenia, Azerbaijan and other countries can become a real guarantee for the strengthening of peace between the two states. This was announced at the session of the National Assembly on October 27, during the discussion of the draft ratification of the framework agreement on strategic cooperation between Armenia and the United States under the "Trump Path for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) project. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan announced. In particular, he responded to the criticism of the opposition parliamentary factions, emphasizing that the project has both economic and geopolitical significance. According to the minister, the benefits for Armenia include both the "North-South" railway communication, as well as the possibility of trade with Azerbaijan and entering the markets of third countries through the territory of that country. As an example, Mirzoyan pointed out the possibility of organizing a more direct route for cargo transportation between Armenia and China. The Foreign Minister also mentioned that the American partners will take the main investment burden within the framework of TRIPP. Answering the questions about peace guarantees, Mirzoyan emphasized that the signed documents did not always prevent wars. According to his assessment, it is necessary to create such a situation in which both Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as other countries, will be interested in the uninterrupted operation of transport communications. "Do you want guarantees?" The real guarantee is interest. We should be interested, and Azerbaijan should be interested," the minister stated, adding that this interest should also be extended to other countries using the "East-West" transport corridor.
