Thus, the decision of the CEC had a direct impact not only on one political force, but also on the final composition of the National Assembly. This is a matter of principle for the "Prosperous Armenia" party. Artificially depriving the party of parliamentary representation in the presence of the necessary support of voters cannot be considered as a purely technical issue of election administration. Such a decision undermines citizens' trust in both the electoral process and state institutions and has radically distorted the political image of the National Assembly, leaving out of the parliament the political force that, according to the PACE conclusions, could overcome the threshold established by law. The further criminal prosecution against the chairman of the party, Gagik Tsarukyan, as part of which he was arrested after the elections, is of particular concern. In the broader context of the elections, PACE also recorded problems related to pressures on the opposition and the use of law enforcement mechanisms, noting that many criminal proceedings regarding offenses related to the elections. The charges mainly concerned opposition representatives and created the impression of selective use of law enforcement mechanisms. In this context, the "Prosperous Armenia" party considers it necessary to get an objective assessment from the international community, both of the deprivation of the party's parliamentary representation and of the actions taken against its leader. to the circumstances of the persecution.
