The aim of the incumbent Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan is to ensure the adoption of a new Constitution pleasing to the palate of Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev. Edgar Ghazaryan, a member of the opposition Strong Armenia faction, told reporters on November 6. “He is, in fact, fulfilling Aliyev's demand. All we have today is a manifestation of his defeatism. If he had succeeded, the new Constitution would have been adopted a long time ago, and Aliyev, pleased with him, would have had a good time with him. But all of this failed, and so they had to resort to extreme measures. This is a manifestation of his desperation and defeat, ”the MP said, referring to the mass arrests and detentions of opposition leaders and representatives.
