Volodya Hakobyan, the secretary of the ruling "Civil Agreement" faction, announced that the ruling deputies do not intend to silently tolerate physical attacks by the opposition. According to him, the conflict in the National Assembly escalated after the opposition MPs started attacking the government representatives who were speaking from the podium of the Parliament. Hakobyan also accused the opposition of constant provocations and defeating the speeches of "Civil Pact" MPs. Hakobyan explained that after the initial escalation of the situation, the passions had calmed down, and the leadership of the parliament had decided not to interrupt the session and not to invite the security officers. However, after the resumption of the session, the conflict flared up again. During the briefing, the journalist drew Hakobyan's attention to the video of the incident, noting that the footage shows how the deputy speaker of the National Assembly picks up the chair and throws it in the direction of another deputy. The journalist asked whether the representative of the ruling faction considers such behavior normal. "No insulting words were uttered, but the person speaking from the podium was attacked and beaten. And when they hit us, then they get a counterattack, yes!" Hakobyan declared. When the journalist asked if this meant that the opposition MPs should be beaten, the representative of the ruling faction replied that it was about responding to the attack. According to him, if they try to attack the representatives of the government again or hit the MP speaking from the podium, they will retaliate again. Hakobyan also announced that the opposition MPs tried to hit the representatives of the ruling power with various objects. "When they try to hit us with sticks, chairs, bottles, whatever, what do we do? Shouldn't we do anything?" he said. The secretary of the "Civil Agreement" faction accused the opposition of regularly subverting the speeches of government representatives. According to him, the opposition MPs constantly interrupt the speakers, comment on their words and intervene in the speeches, while the representatives of the ruling faction try not to react to the speeches of the opponents.
