The ARF European Armenian Dat Office (EAFJD) sent an open letter to the Special Representative of the European Union (EUSR) in the South Caucasus, Magdalena Grono, expressing "deep disappointment" at her participation in the tour organized by the Azerbaijani government. to Nagorno Karabakh. This is reported by the ARF. In an open letter, the chairman of the European Armenian Affairs Office of the ARF, Gaspar Karapetyan, strongly condemns the participation of European officials in the staged demonstration in Baku, stating: "For me, as one who has missions in 13 EU member states "As the president of a European NGO and simply as a European citizen who believes that human dignity is inviolable, it was painful to witness how high-ranking European diplomats became the authoritarian regime of Baku." "Participant in a presentation carefully prepared by me." Karapetyan emphasizes that there is a difference between diplomatic contacts and becoming a spectator of historical revisionism (distortion of history) carried out at the state level. "We fully accept that the EU Special Representative must communicate with all parties and that getting to know the region first-hand is important. However, there is a significant difference between impartially witnessing the realities on the ground and participating in a propaganda visit organized by Adrbajan. It is possible to get acquainted with the situation without insulting the dignity of the people who were forcibly displaced only three years ago, subjected to hunger and blockade," Karapetyan notes. The letter specifically criticizes how such propaganda measures allow Baku to "instrument the European Union to legitimize its ethnic cleansing". Karapetyan refers to the disturbing behavior of European officials when they danced with joy at the party organized by the Azerbaijani government in depopulated Artsakh just 3 years ago and emphasizes that such behavior, regardless of individual from nature, it inevitably carries political weight. "As for the history of the region and the origins of its cultural heritage, we are convinced that there are many unbiased historical testimonies if there is a sincere desire to discover it. We hope that you have a sincere interest in this regard," the letter states. Warning against short-sighted policies that ignore basic principles and human dignity, Karapetyan concludes: "We accept that the EU has economic and political interests in Azerbaijan. However, diplomacy, where not only principles are sacrificed, but also human dignity, quickly turns into a crime. Moreover, at the given moment, it may seem that pleasing Aliyev's regime helps to achieve the set goals. However, this approach is short-sighted and not the best way to earn respect, even from the party they are trying to please." The ARF European Armenian Affairs Office reaffirms its readiness to cooperate constructively with the EUHRN, but insists that taking into account the seriousness and symbolic nature of the visit, an open and direct dialogue is necessary. It's fine.
