On October 29, Ukiasyan and Aharon Sahakyan met with the delegation led by Mani Husaini, the chairman of the Standing Committee on Energy and Environmental Affairs of the Norwegian Parliament. Welcoming the guests, Ruben Mkhitaryan noted that Armenia is interested in Norway's experience in combining economic growth with environmental sustainability, as well as in effectively managing natural resources. The chairman of the commission emphasized the expansion of cooperation also at the level of local self-government, expressing confidence that the ties between the countries in all fields will be strengthened day by day. Mani Husaini thanked for the warm reception and noted that the relations and cooperation between Norway and Armenia are consistently developing. He also emphasized the importance of being loyal to common democratic values. Members of the delegation that arrived in Armenia within the framework of the 17th conference of the parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) expressed their satisfaction with the successful organization of the conference. Members of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Territorial Administration and Environmental Protection expressed their gratitude to the Government of Norway for its support to the Republic of Armenia in various directions. The parties emphasized the need to expand economic cooperation, among a number of other directions of the bilateral agenda. In this context, increasing the volume of trade turnover was especially important. Issues related to environmental protection in Armenia were discussed. Reference was also made to the processes aimed at establishing peace in the region. The parties expressed confidence that the meeting will become a new impetus for deepening the Armenian-Norway parliamentary cooperation.
