Last time I talked about the possible scenario of early elections, but yesterday, after a question-and-answer session with the government, I was convinced that there is a high probability that it will not lead to early elections. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this in a conversation with journalists on October 29. He repeated that instead of this, a proposal will be made regarding the Constitution, which the opposition will not be able to refuse. "Yesterday, according to the results of the question-and-answer session with the government, they gave the opportunity to carry out the process in such a way as to generate strong public pressure on the opposition, so that they could make the new Constitution possible with their vote. the holding of the referendum," Pashinyan mentioned. Moreover, he clarified that he cannot guarantee that he will be able to formulate that proposal. "I can't say more." According to him, the question of the opposition is whether this is the end of the peace process. He did not rule out that the supporters of the government will hold an action in order to put pressure on the opposition, so that the latter will vote in favor of holding a referendum on the Constitution. "If this scenario does not work, then we will go the way of extraordinary parliamentary elections, with a 100 percent guarantee that the current opposition will not appear in the next convocation parliament," added the head of the government. With this, he explained the fact that, in his estimation, the probability of holding extraordinary parliamentary elections is extremely low. "If I call on the people to vote in favor of the amendment of the Constitution, and we put an end to the thousand-year conflict with that step and manage to present justifications, the people will vote "yes" by 90 percent. This is a theoretical program. I will follow the path of implementing this plan, and it is a very difficult process," Pashinyan emphasized.
