There is no provision in the peace treaty regarding constitutional changes. Narek Karapetyan, head of the "Strong Armenia" faction, mentioned this today, on October 30, in a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly. "The peace agreement was signed in the presence of the mediator as a witness. The USA is the witness, who is also the mediator, and it is the guarantor, being that witness, that the conditions are exactly like this. After some time, Azerbaijan makes an additional demand about the initialed agreement and raises the issue of changing the constitution, the issue of the arrival of Azerbaijanis. We see that there is a special political style there, they take little by little, they solve one problem from the beginning, then move on to another, they don't approach it as a package. That is why our country faced the danger that we have been losing ground in the last 5 years. Azerbaijan has understood that the longer it drags out the peace agreement, the more it will take from us. Peace can be achieved only in one way, when the opposite side understands that it will not be able to get anything by prolonging it, when it sees a wall. The government is afraid and, being already defeated, cannot disobey, but the opposition does not have those fears," he said. Narek Karapetyan announced that the Aliyev constitution cannot pass in Armenia. "The head of a neighboring country cannot decide our constitution. We are talking about statehood, we are talking about the country, we are not a toy for them. The authorities have made so many concessions that the Prime Minister himself says that he does not know whether Azerbaijan wants another concession or not. Even he claims that he doesn't know, but the man went to the elections in the name of peace, he got votes in the elections, but he still didn't actually know what the other side would want. In other words, during the election, he did not know what he wanted, but he said that we have already signed a contract. Here it becomes clear that they are misleading the people, they hid the negotiations in order to get votes during the election by fraud", emphasized Narek Karapetyan. To the observation that Nikol Pashinyan stated that if the opposition does not agree to the referendum to adopt a new constitution, they will go to early elections, doesn't that scare the opposition, he replied. "We are here to advance the interest of our country, to keep that fire alive. How could your decades-long opponent tell you what your constitution should be? It is clear that this constitution will be a constitution to weaken the country, he will not want us to become stronger. If we see that we have to stand up against our opponent, what does pressure have to do to us? Most of the society also puts pressure on us, so don't take the bait of your opponent."
