The European Parliament adopted a resolution in its October 8 plenary session condemning the attempts of the "Georgian Dream" party to ban the activity of opposition parties in Georgia. 445 deputies voted for the document, 37 voted against it, and 97 abstained. The resolution condemns the attempts to ban the opposition associations and demands the withdrawal of the constitutional lawsuit filed against them. In addition, the European Parliament called on the European Union and its member states to impose sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili, Irakli Kobakhidze, Shalva Papuashvili and Kakha Kaladze.
