Artificial intelligence has begun to follow the established order in Kyrgyzstan’s colonies

Kyrgyz correctional institutions have begun using artificial intelligence to monitor order among prisoners and staff, the republic’s Ministry of Justice, which includes the Penitentiary Service, reported.

“Artificial intelligence technologies based on machine learning have been introduced in pilot mode in institutions No. 21 (pre-trial detention center-1) and No. 27 (correctional colony) of the Penitentiary Service to prevent violations of the established order in institutions,” the statement said.

The cameras equipped with the detention center and colony can detect “fire, fights, unauthorized gatherings of people, presence in prohibited areas,” as well as “leaving their positions by members of the institution’s staff.”
