The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) has condemned US President-elect Donald Trump’s statement on returning the Panama Canal to US control.
“The member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) express their strongest rejection of the statements made by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, in which he threatens to take control of the Panama Canal,” the ALBA-TCP noted in a statement .
The statement added that the Panama Canal is “protected by International Law,” and the US claims to it are an “aggression against the sovereignty” of Panama.
Earlier, undisclosed informed sources had told the New York Post that Trump seriously intends to acquire Greenland and the Panama Canal, considering the US an empire that needs to be expanded.
