The UK has expanded its sanctions list against Russia. It has added the Russian insurance company Soglasie and 101 tankers for their ties to Russia. This follows from a document from the British Treasury Department.
The restrictions also include Hong Kong-based BX Energy, which is engaged in the creation of batteries, and the trading company Nord Axis Ltd. It is alleged that they were involved in the trade of Russian hydrocarbons. Sanctions have also been imposed on the Norwegian Romarine AS, which provides ship maintenance services. According to the report, all of these companies received benefits for supporting the Russian government.
The list also includes five Azerbaijani citizens. Tahir Garayev, Akhmed Kerimov, Anar Madatli, Talat Safarov and Etibar Eyyub run the Coral Energy Group (formerly 2Rivers Group) and are allegedly associated with the Russian “shadow fleet”. The EU and US authorities consider tankers to be such, which are used to circumvent sanctions and other restrictions on oil trade, Kommersant reports.
