According to Irish media, independent candidate Catherine Connolly has won the Irish presidential election.
Her main rival, Heather Humphreys, congratulated the newly elected president.
“Catherine will be our president. She will be my president. I wish her all the best. I have no regrets,” Humphreys said.
Catherine Connolly, 68, is a member of the Irish House of Representatives.
