“First of all, let me say right away that this exhortation is not specifically directed at Vardan Ghukasyan.
It was about everything that I had spoken about, said in connection with the authorities’ steps, the rest, one was talking about that, the other was about the post-election period, that is, when all the journalists, those unscrupulous bloggers, analysts, who, so to speak, were walking around all over Armenia, urging the fallen Martun Grigoryan to announce, announce, don’t delay, I don’t know, with various insults, during that time I had different meetings, I had different analyses with my teammates, and I informed everyone about this in detail, the political forces, individual figures, everyone, I informed these situations, one can say, taking into account the handwriting of these authorities in advance, taking into account all this, naturally all this was expected, and what was I saying during that time, I was not fighting for the mayor’s position, or Vardan, or me, but I was proposing an option so that the victory of the collective opposition would not be wasted.
That’s what I said, during the meetings with everyone, I proposed an alternative option,” Grigoryan said.
When asked by the journalist what the specific option was, Grigoryan said: “The problem with that part was that, taking into account the previous cases against the mayor, I not only emphasized those specific cases, but the emphasis was also placed on his temperament.
In this situation, was it possible to keep the city and carry the collective victory of the opposition forward to the end with these authorities? That’s what I said. That’s what happened, and unfortunately, during that time people thought, well, I didn’t fight any more so that there wouldn’t be the impression that it was a matter of a struggle for power, and you all understood very well that if I had specifically announced before the elections that there would be no cooperation with the CP, I have announced this from the first day I stood here, and I have gone to the end, I have been true to my word, I have kept it, the next step was either to elect Vardan Ghukasyan, or to cooperate with the CP, or the third option, neither him nor him, which would lead to the victory of the elections, and in the case of new elections, they say with certainty that the CP would have collected 50 plus votes at that time.”
