Controversial law aimed at nationalizing the Armenian Electricity Grid was adopted in the first reading. Only the Communist Party voted “for”

The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia put to a vote and adopted in the first reading the issue of adopting in the first reading the package of bills “On Amendments and Supplements to the Law “On the Public Services Regulatory Authority” and “On Amendments and Supplements to the Law “On Energy”, submitted by the Civil Contract faction of the National Assembly.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan reported that the absent Communist Party faction deputies Artur Hovhannisyan, Maria Karapetyan, Lilit Minasyan, Sargis Khandanyan, Arsen Torosyan voted “for”.

65 deputies voted “for”, 30 – “against”, 0 deputies abstained.

Let us recall that after businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan’s statement about his support for the church, Pashinyan stated the need to think about the nationalization of the ESA and gave instructions to the relevant authorities in this regard.
