“KP did not realize what happened in Gyumri.” Martun Grigoryan on whether to resign from his post as a member of the Council of Elders

Karen Badalyan, a member of the “Our City” faction of the Gyumri Council of Elders, wrote a statement on resigning from his post. We had a discussion. Karen outlined the personal reasons for which she agreed to take on this job and asked us, as a team, to treat him with understanding and perceive his step normally. Today, May 6, in a conversation with journalists, Martun Grigoryan, a deputy of the “I have the honor” faction, stated this, referring to the fact that Karen Badalyan regretted it two days later and submitted a new statement, in which he proposed to ignore his application for a mandate, and at the same time noted that he wanted to leave the “Our City” faction.

“I talked to Karen for quite a long time, explained, even convinced her that this is a common struggle, that it is wrong to refuse the mandate now, but Karen cited personal reasons. In the end, we entered into her situation, but at that time we perceived it as a matter of moving to personal work, we respected this decision.”

The letter was sent to the municipality, the mayor drew up a protocol the next day and sent it to the election commission #31, and from that moment on he was considered a person without a mandate.

“After that, it turns out that our comrade regretted it and filed an application to revoke the mandate, and the mayor does not have the authority to revoke the protocol or draw up a new protocol,” he said.

Martun Grigoryan noted that to date there has been no contact with Karen Badalyan, and the faction members have not been able to contact him.

“We cannot understand the reason. In addition, we learn that after he filed an application to restore his mandate, he sent a second letter to the municipality, in which he said that he wants to leave the Our City faction. A few days later we learned that he had filed a lawsuit to restore his mandate or challenge the mayor’s protocol.”
