Meta donates $1 million to Trump: WSJ

Meta Corporation, headed by Mark Zuckerberg, donated $1 million to the inauguration fund of the elected US President Donald Trump. This was reported on Wednesday by The Wall Street Journal.

As noted, in this way Zuckerberg is trying to improve relations with Trump, who in his book “Saving America” accused the entrepreneur of conspiring against him in the 2020 election and threatened him with a life sentence in prison if he interfered in the 2024 election. This step differs from the usual policy of the corporation, which did not allocate funds to either the Trump Foundation in 2017 or the Joe Biden Foundation in 2021, the newspaper adds.

The publication recalls that in November Zuckerberg met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence (Florida). According to The Wall Street Journal’s sources, before dinner with the elected American president, Zuckerberg demonstrated Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses for him and gave them to him.

In addition, Meta’s top managers have already contacted future White House Chief of Staff Susan Wiles, and Zuckerberg’s advisers have contacted US Secretary of State candidate Marco Rubio, future Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and National Security Affairs Stephen Miller, White House Domestic Policy Council nominee Vince Haley, and future White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Legislative and Public Affairs James Blair.
