Nikola can and should be defeated the day before. The only option is an idea + substrate. Armen Ashotyan

Although the political reality of Armenia has long gone beyond the classical schemes of political science, the basics of ethics and even astrological whims, there is nevertheless a scientific direction that can explain the current domestic political situation in our country. This was written by the deputy chairman of the RPA Armen Ashotyan, who is under house arrest.

“This is a philosophy, the tools of which allow us to understand the main characteristics of events in general terms and look for solutions.

According to this methodology, the main participants in political processes in Armenia can be divided into “materialists”, “idealists” and “dualists”.

MATERIALISTS

1. Nikol and KP

The group, which positioned itself in 2018 as idealists and seized power with such slogans, quickly turned into political materialists, for whom matter, substrate, substance are primary (in the political sense, this is not always identical to material things).

And in recent months, this wild materialism has become their open credo: “real Armenia”, “let’s give in to live well”, and the logic of “cash is better than Nisya sausages” has become their foreign policy matrix.

To destroy noble, but “abstract” ideas for the sake of tangible (not to be confused with tangible) and currently advantageous phenomena: power, Levers, money, trade. In domestic policy, their materialism is an integral part, for example, of prisons filled with political prisoners, failed criminal cases, tax increases, and even concert-festival-event fever.

Having lost to the opposition in the ideological struggle, offering the public initially unacceptable and “corrupt” ideas, they decided, as the Russians would say, “not to bother” and switched to an openly materialistic toolkit.

2. The Camp of the Second President

Many of the opposition’s backbone, no matter how many of them were “traditional” idealists in the person of the ARF “Dashnaktsutyun”, nevertheless, in their latest manifestations, which began with Robert Kocharyan’s February press conference, have clearly shifted to the materialistic pole, which was especially clearly manifested in their approaches to the procedure for expressing no confidence in the Prime Minister.

The formula “money in the morning, chairs in the evening” (for example, “bring the 2 missing signatures for impeachment, then we will give up our own”, “let the streets fill up, then we will think about joining”, etc.) is typical, frank political materialism, which comes into deep dissonance against the backdrop of terror raging in the country, the material risks of new vital concessions and the once mainstream idea of “saving the Motherland”. And the “crown” of this materialism is to connect the main hope for a change of power with the parliamentary elections of 2026.

3. Nikolay’s Satellites

Various “Eurovoice”, “Hurriyet” partners, agents of influence, growing like mushrooms on the dung heap of anti-Russianism, no matter how they hide behind loud slogans and ideas, still remain frankly materialists, in the most vulgar sense of the word. This vocal-instrumental community of three-lyric “Mani Munnat” was nurtured, multiplied and prospers not thanks to the European civilizational heritage, but thanks to the “Euro-Turkey” consortium.

IDEALISTS

1. Armenian Apostolic Holy Church

Yes, as a result of Pashinyan’s attacks, our church has become an openly political factor, no matter how alien this truth may seem to spiritual leaders. By the way, the sooner this new reality is realized and accepted by the church itself, the more effective will be the preservation and existence of its national-spiritual character.

To avoid misunderstandings and primitive manipulations, I want to emphasize: what I have said does not mean that the church should “enter politics”. I am saying that in order to protect its spiritual-national character, the church must inevitably resort to political instruments, that is, supplement its “idealistic” arsenal with “materialistic” ones.

After all, the ability to use the “over the hip” technique against attackers does not make you a judoka.

2. Samvel Karapetyan

A brazen and cruel campaign against the Armenian national benefactor immediately turns him into an influential political factor with serious potential. However, let us not forget that this process was based on the idealism of Samvel Karapetyan – his readiness to defend the Armenian Apostolic Church from Pashinyan’s attacks.

And this is a unique phenomenon, since even his multi-billion dollar fortune does not make him a materialist. Values, ideas, meanings – everything that is characteristic of classical idealists – are above all else for him.

If an institutional, political structure is formed around his image, then this idealism, as in the case of the Church, will be supplemented by a materialistic toolkit.

DUALISTS

1. The camp of the third president

The core of this group is the Republican Party of Armenia, which has gone through various stages of these philosophical wanderings over its 35-year history: from its foundation until coming to power – romantic idealists, during the years of power – moderate materialists, after losing power – idealists again, but this time rational ones.

Since June, having announced the beginning of the pro
