The US draft resolution on Gaza does not sufficiently address Palestinian rights, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The US draft resolution on Gaza, submitted to the UN Security Council, does not sufficiently reflect the “two-state solution” plan. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning noted that Washington’s initiative does not fully address the Palestinians’ right to self-determination.
“The draft resolution submitted by the United States does not sufficiently reflect such important principles as the “two-state solution” plan, under which Palestinians govern Palestine,” he stated at a briefing. “This contradicts China’s consistent position, which is why we abstained and voted ‘yes.'”
The Chinese diplomat explained that the US draft resolution “remains unclear” on key issues concerning the fate of Gaza after the end of the armed conflict. He said Beijing will take a constructive and responsible stance on this issue, “support the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights,” and make every effort to achieve a “comprehensive, just, and lasting settlement.”

“I want to emphasize: China supports the Security Council in taking all necessary measures to facilitate a long-term ceasefire, alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe, and begin post-war reconstruction [in Gaza],” Mao Ning added.
