US President Donald Trump said that if necessary, he is ready to come to Istanbul on May 16, where the first direct contacts between Russia and Ukraine since 2022 are planned for May 15.
“I think we will do well with Russia and Ukraine. Think about it: an average of 5,000 soldiers are killed every week. Let’s see how we can end this. I am thinking about going, but it is very difficult due to our busy schedules today and tomorrow. But if something happens, I would go on Friday if necessary. Our people are already negotiating,” Trump said at a meeting with representatives of the US and Qatari business community in Doha.
