US President-elect Donald Trump has promised to focus his administration’s efforts on ending the war in Ukraine.
“We’re going to work very hard on Russia and Ukraine. That’s got to stop. I’ve seen the reports, thousands of people killed in three days, they were soldiers. But whether it’s soldiers or people in cities, we’re going to work on that,” Trump said at a gala at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
President-elect spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt previously said Trump intended to “sit down” Russian and Ukrainian negotiators “on day one” after his inauguration on January 20, 2025. Bloomberg sources said Trump began formulating Ukraine policy more than two months before taking office.
