US sends F-15E fighter squadron to Middle East

A group of US fighter jets has been deployed from the UK to the Middle East.

Earlier, The Times of Israel reported that the US had decided to temporarily deploy a squadron of F-15E Strike Eagle fighters to Jordan due to concerns about a possible Iranian missile strike on Israel.

In turn, the Haaretz newspaper noted that at least 12 fighter jets were being sent to Jordan.

Earlier this month, the Pentagon announced an increase in its military presence in the Middle East, sending a missile defense squadron, a squadron of fighter jets and six US Air Force B-52H strategic bombers based at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar to the region.

The US is strengthening its position in the region due to concerns that Iran could strike Israel in response to the attack on October 26, which, in turn, was a response to an earlier Iranian strike on October 1.
