The United States (US) is determined to impose additional tariffs on imports from the European Union (EU). This was announced by US President Donald Trump on Sunday evening, speaking to reporters at Andrews military airbase near Washington, D.C. upon returning from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
This will definitely happen regarding the EU because they really benefit from the US, the American leader said, commenting on Washington’s imposition of additional import tariffs on the EU. He noted that the US intends to adopt these protectionist measures in trade with the EU very soon.
Also, Trump noted that the bilateral trade deficit with the EU exceeds $300-350 billion. The EU buys almost nothing, but the US buys everything from them, Trump said. In his opinion, the EU is behaving completely inappropriately, and something has to be done about it, he said.
The US president slammed also the UK’s trade policy towards his country. But he believes this can be resolved, Trump added. The US president noted that he has a very good relationship with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
