On May 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks in the Kremlin, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reported.
The two heads of state exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis.
Xi Jinping noted that with regard to the Ukrainian crisis, China advocates and adheres to a common, comprehensive, joint and sustainable concept of global security, and believes that the legitimate security interests of all countries should be taken seriously and the root causes of the crisis should be addressed. China welcomes all efforts to promote peace and hopes to achieve a fair, lasting and binding peace agreement acceptable to all parties through dialogue.
Putin praised China’s objective and fair position on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis and said that Russia is ready to begin peace talks without preconditions and hopes to achieve a fair and lasting peace agreement.
