The damage caused by natural disasters in China during the month of August amounted to 36.03 billion yuan (more than 5.33 billion dollars at the current exchange rate of the Central Bank of the country), 595 people were killed or still missing. This was announced by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of China. As noted on the department's WeChat social network page, 12.62 million people appeared in natural disaster zones in China during the past month, including 1.18 million residents who underwent emergency evacuation. Typhoons, floods and landslides were among the natural disasters that caused the greatest damage to China in August. As a result of the disasters, more than 400 residential buildings were destroyed, and another 5.9 thousand houses were damaged. In addition, 8 57.4 thousand ha of agricultural lands were affected.
