Belarus has concentrated troops and military equipment near the borders of Poland and Lithuania for a four-day command and staff exercise. Part of the maneuvers are held in the immediate vicinity of the Suwalki Corridor, which is a strategic Polish-Lithuanian border crossing for NATO. Among other units, motorized rifle and tank battalions are involved in the exercise. The exercises of the Western Operational Command are taking place from September 15 to 18 under the leadership of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Pavel Muraveiko. The Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported that the military is working on the protection of the border, the maintenance of martial law, the fight against subversive and illegal armed decisions, as well as the repulsion of drone and light aviation attacks. The Suwalki Corridor is a 104-kilometer section of the Polish-Lithuanian border that connects the Baltic states to the rest of NATO, while separating Belarus from the Kaliningrad region of Russia. "We are not considering any offensive action," Muraveiko stated, calling the rumors about the readiness to attack neighboring countries "absolutely groundless." According to the department, the number of participants and the weapons involved does not exceed the quantities defined by the Vienna document of 2011. in their case, it is required to notify the other states.
