Iran's Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref supported Azerbaijani girls who are being persecuted in Azerbaijan for wearing hijab. "Thanking the Ministry of Science for their willingness to accept hijab-wearing Azeri girls in Iranian universities, I would like to thank the Ministers of Health and Education, as well as other education officials. "And I ask the university management to take necessary measures to continue the admission and study of Azerbaijani students," he said. Earlier, Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Hossein Simai-Sarraf, announced his willingness to admit Azerbaijani girls to Iranian universities. "The doors of Iranian universities are open for the girls of Azerbaijan who want to get an education. We can accept the faithful daughters of the Prophet Muhammad, who are forced to remove the hijab in order to realize their right to education," he noted. Earlier today, Baku accused Tehran of interfering in internal affairs over a statement on education for Azerbaijani girls.
