A seven-story residential building damaged during the war collapsed in the Gaza Strip. At least 12 Palestinians were killed, including five children, and another 14 were injured, Reuters reports. About 100 people may remain under the rubble, the Palestinian rescue services said. The collapse happened at night. Rescuers continue to clear the rubble in the hope of finding survivors. According to Raed al-Dahshan, head of the Civil Defense Service of Gaza City, at least ten families lived in the building. The rescuers reported that voices of people are heard from under the rubble, so the hope of finding the survivors remains. In the distributed footage, it can be seen how the rescuers are trying to get people out from under the concrete debris. Civil defense officers, representatives of a number of UN structures and the Egyptian aid service are participating in the operation. The work is complicated by the lack of heavy equipment. in some areas, the rescuers have to remove the rubble by hand. Alessandro Mrakic, head of the United Nations Development Program office in Gaza, warned that the situation could lead to new victims.
