In Armenia, the deadlines for providing support to border settlements have been extended. The relevant decision was adopted at the session of the Government on October 1. Currently, 82 settlements of 13 border communities are receiving support. The program has been in operation since 2015, and its term has already been extended three times. The current term ends on January 1, 2027, but the Government decided to extend it for another year. The Ministry of Finance should evaluate the effectiveness of the program and decide how justified its further continuation is. Residents of 82 border settlements of Ararat, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik and Tavush marzes receive 50% compensation for electricity, natural gas and irrigation water costs. In addition, the state fully compensates the land tax of those lands in the border zone, the cultivation of which is difficult.
