The European Commission (EC) allocates 3.3 billion euros to Kiev for the purchase of weapons, within the framework of a 90 billion euro loan to support Ukraine. This was announced by the President of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen. "Today, we are allocating 3.3 billion euros for the purchase of drones and missiles, within the framework of the support loan to Ukraine. Europe will continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary support to protect its people and its territory," von der Leyen was quoted as saying in the press release of the European Commission. The message noted that the tranche is aimed at covering the needs of the air defense sector of Kyiv, including PAC-3 missiles intended for Patriot systems. On September 11, the European Commission approved the allocation of 6.1 billion euros for Ukraine's air and missile defense, as well as other defense needs.
