The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, believes that the potato sowing areas should be increased in the republic. On Friday, Lukashenko works in the Shklov region of the Mogilev region, where he is informed about potato harvesting, new varieties of Belarusian selection and storage technologies. "We need to grow more potatoes in Belarus," his words were quoted by the "Pul pervogo" telegram channel, which is close to the Belarusian president's press service. Lukashenko added that he instructed the government to find new sales markets and decide where potatoes will be cultivated during the winter. The president noted that the current potato planting areas in the country are relatively small. "What other bulbs are there that don't produce potatoes?" he noticed. Lukashenko also announced the unsatisfactory state of agriculture in the Mogilev region. "Put the region under martial law and start working. Otherwise, our conversation will be the last," he told the officials. Lukashenko instructed to radically correct the situation in the region by 2027. "I will also visit the most distant corners of Belarus. But if there are unplowed plots of land near the canals, next to the bushes, you will not work," the Belarusian leader added. He also warned Nadezhda Kotkovetsi, assistant to the president of Belarus, inspector of Mogilev region, that there will be a "reinforced demand" from him.
