During the COP17 international conference held in Yerevan on October 19-30, Hayk Ter-Tachatyan, operational director of Dalan Technopark, gave a speech on the topic "Each building is a decision about biodiversity." Emphasizing the preservation of the environment, he referred to the impact of urban development on natural resources and presented the international experience of preserving biodiversity and the approaches used in Dalan Technopark. During the speech, Hayk Ter-Tachatyan emphasized that the development of urban planning in Armenia, rich in biodiversity, should be accompanied by responsible approaches to the environment. One of the important problems of modern construction is the effective use of natural resources and reducing the impact of buildings on the surrounding ecosystem. In this context, it is particularly important to consider environmental factors at the design stage and to use such solutions that will allow to minimize the negative impact on the environment, from construction to until further operation of the building. Effective management of water resources, reduction of light pollution, correct organization of construction works and minimizing the negative impact on the environment during the further operation of the building are important. As a practical example of these approaches, Dalan Technopark was presented, a multifunctional business complex with a total area of 154,500 square meters, which was designed and built in accordance with the requirements of the LEED green building standard. "We wanted to be present at COP17 because Dalan Technopark is the first commercial building in Armenia that will be designed, built and operated according to LEED and BOMA international standards. Everything we do for the organization of the construction and later operation of the building directly coincides with the ideology of COP17," Hayk Ter-Tachatyan said. During the speech, the leading role of Dalan Technopark in the formation of a new culture of sustainable construction in Armenia was also emphasized. The principles adopted in the design and the construction organization approaches can serve as an example and become the basis for the development and introduction of new construction standards in Armenia. About Dalan Technopark The construction area of Dalan is 154,500 square meters. Technopark will offer 3000 office jobs, it will consist of 22 floors.
