British Prime Minister Andy Burnham stated that the results of the US midterm elections give the international community an opportunity to focus on ending the war with Iran and reducing the cost of living, reports PA Media. In his opinion, international cooperation and relaxation of tension between countries are necessary for solving economic problems. Burnham made this statement at the meeting of the heads of governments of the Commonwealth of Nations countries in Antigua, following the defeat of the Republican Party of US President Donald Trump in the mid-term congressional elections. after "President Trump has accepted the results of the elections, and I think that now the world has an opportunity to unite around a problem that concerns us all: the cost of living," the Prime Minister of Great Britain told reporters. He emphasized that he will not be able to reduce the financial burden of the British until the conflict in the Middle East is settled. Among other priorities, Burnham mentioned stopping the war started by Russia in Ukraine and strengthening international cooperation. According to him, the results of the voting in the USA prove that voters want to see countries that are focused on solving people's everyday problems, not on conflicts and disagreements. Burnham also stated that Great Britain will try to ease the tension of the conflict with Iran. Among the goals, he mentioned the settlement of the situation and the full restoration of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The US mid-term elections have become a serious blow for the Republicans and the Trump administration. Their results strengthened the position of the Democrats in the Congress and indicated the dissatisfaction of some voters with the current government.
